Speaking at the ceremony, Le Van Chan, Deputy Head of the Department of Plant Production and Protection and Deputy Director of the Dong Thap TRVC Project Management Board, stated that in the context of increasingly severe climate impacts on agricultural production, especially the rice sector, transitioning toward sustainable, low-emission production with higher added value is now an urgent requirement.

However, for this transition to be truly effective, human factors cannot be overlooked. This includes the crucial role of women and the equal participation of vulnerable groups, including people with disabilities.

The signing of the Memorandum of Cooperation between participating enterprises, the Department of Health, and the Dong Thap Provincial Women’s Union on promoting gender equality and disability inclusion for the 2026-2027 period.

Through the TRVC Project, Dong Thap Province has clearly defined its objectives not only to improve the economic efficiency of the rice value chain but also to promote gender equality by increasing women’s participation in production, processing, and business activities. At the same time, the project aims to expand access to information and livelihood opportunities suitable for people with disabilities.

Le Van Chan emphasized: “The involvement of the Provincial Women’s Union will help disseminate information and raise awareness among members and women at the grassroots level. Meanwhile, the health sector will serve as a bridge connecting vulnerable groups, particularly people with disabilities, with participating companies and enterprises, thereby improving the quality of life for local residents, especially those most at risk.”

On this occasion, the organizing committee conducted a training session to guide delegates through the criteria for gender equality and disability inclusion.
